Used it several times, but only with a car. Cost varies and it's worth looking for a deal on their 1,2 or 3 day mini break cruise deals if they still do them. Last time I went (2018) it worked out quite a bit cheaper than booking a standard return if you book in advance.

I really like the route as they sail from Hull late afternoon/early evening and the ferries have some reasonable bars and live entertainment so it's very relaxing and a good laugh. Likewise on the return leg.

The evening self service buffet restaurant is excellent as well.

Obviously more expensive than a Dover/Calais crossing, but if you are heading for Holland/Belgium and live a long way from Dover, it's definitely worth considering.

We have used it my times, with car, on foot, with bikes and with LR130&Camper.
Very easy to get on and off the boat on car decks (side door) and truck decks (back door)
Very good on board service.

Its not cheap.

Connection to NL Motorway is excellent

Only down side is you return right into the Hull rush hour and it can be slow getting to M62. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

I'm with Mick on this one. Hull is the best way to get to Belgium, France and Holland. The bistro restaurant is quality and all the crew are fantastic. I would never travel to Dover. I don't think it is expensive for us Northerners when you factor in the saving on diesel and two nights bed, breakfast and evening meal. Thumbs Up

Have you thought about the Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry route. Tried the overnight sailing from Harwich a couple of years ago, fairly quiet port at both ends so no delays and onto the Dutch motorways very quickly.

We use the Harwich - Hook of Holland when driving to Germany. Overnight crossings for us so the kids can sleep. Careful on the timing for your return journey though - rush hour in the morning around Colchester is horrible. You can use Tesco vouchers too if you collect them

Can be quite rowdy on Friday and Saturday evenings. Used it last year going with mates on a Euro motorbike tour.

Turned out lots of people local to Newcastle used it as a party/booze cruise. Over to Amsterdam on Friday after work, drunk as skunks, eat "cookies" all day in the Dam, then home overnight Sat night.

It was great fun Smile Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
