ooo dear -are you:-
a 90 person:- Young, affluent, fun-seeking individual OR a 110 person:- Couples, Self-Employed, Adventurous OR a 130 person:- farmer (??), active lifestyle & travel That category for the 130 looks like "families" to me, not farmers. No mention at all of people that get their hands dirty, off road enthusiasts or even emergency services. Plenty of premium badges, SE, HSE, X ?? Must mean eXtra eXpensive. I'm out, as the saying goes. The future is looking Jeep shaped. |

The more I see of it, the more it reminds of the Disco 3 launch. I couldn't help but think it was a slab sided ugly hunk of junk compared to the old Disco 2 model. I made all the same comments about coming away from live axles etc etc etc.
Since then, the Disco 3/4 has made its own mark on the style and what not and seems to be seen in a favourable light by the LR fanatics. I think (hope) the new defender will: a) become a familiar sight on the roads, recognised as a defender. b) fill the workhorse space the Disco 5 seems to have left But ultimatelly, its down to price ... where is the base price going to start ? ------------------------------- I miss my V8's.... |

I think the base price will start with a 3 and at the top end price will be with a 5. Circa 35k for the entry model is my guess 2015 HT XS 90

I'm thinking the base 90 will come in at just under £40k and then the range will top out at about £80k maybe higher for the SVO versions later on. Engine choice makes nearly 10k difference on some models as it stands so its easy to make one model span a huge price range and with these different body variants in the mix going to be even more interesting.
I'd be happy if i could get a 130 HSE 3.0l for 65k. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

Yeah, as each day goes by, I become more and more convinced the Bollinger B1 is the true spiritual successor to the Defender. I want one.

Sometimes I like the pictures of the new Deafener, sometimes not. I hope the paint palette includes some nice solid flat colours. I like the new dashboard.
The final design seems a bit derivative. Can’t help thinking they ought not to have listened to the criticism, and gone with the D100. Have they now tumbled into a hole like Jaguar did with the S Type? Maybe not, but nostalgia is usually not a good idea in design. All said, I will certainly visit the dealer to see it, and will seriously think about a petrol hybrid when they’re debugged. Not too much tech, I hope. |

I tend to agree, although I feel that hydrogen is the future rather than battery. Battery-powered vehicles outside urban areas will be just a passing phase. |

I tend to agree with fisha, when I first saw the D3 I didn't like the back end at all but it did grow on me and a few years later I bought one and it was the most practical vehicle I have ever owned. The fact that it was square and had a bluff front and back made it all the more appealing to me. I hope the new Defender is like the D3/4 but with a really basic option on coil springs that is priced in the low £30K. |

I also hope they offer a Non carpet load space either rubberised throughout or ready for a raptor coat or something. I was close to having the carpet ripped out of my current D4 when I bought it. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Any sort of fuel cell technology that is quick and easy (and safe) to refuel, and can produce a decent continuous power rating (equivalent to say up to 100hp) would be a winner. Combine that with electric motors and a battery pack that provides sufficient capacity for short periods of high performance and it would be awesome. Really just an evolution of the current petrol-electric hybrids but needs a new power source to replace the petrol part. --- 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |
