255/85 R 16's fit without any rubbing so far. That's on a 90. Tested it on a few cross-axles without any load in the back and it cleared, but it's tight.

As I understand it, the biggest size one can go without modification is 265 75 16.
Genis: where did you get that size tyre? I have been looking, but no one sells them in SA that I know of. AndrewS: is your suspension standard on the 285's? I have a 90 with 2 inch lift and disconnected anti-sway bars, and am hesitant to fit 285's for fear of them rubbing on articulation. My truck has an RTI of 761 already, and I still need to fit the longer shocks, so there is a high possibility that the tyres will rub on full articulation with 285's. |

85 is 85% of the tread width. So the wall on say a 285 wide tyre is 85% of the width which is 242.25mm high |
