Heater matrix
For some reason, my heater matrix seems to be stuck on warm, any ideas on that? I have gave the controls a spray down. I have gave the top wire a spray on the heater box too. But nothing, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Disconnect the lever on the top of the heater box (under bonnet) and operate lever manually.

How does it feel?
Can you hear it move/close flap?
Does it stop the heat on test drive?

As above. likely to be either a slipping cable or a broken cable.

... even a visual check? Note the position of the lever on top of the heater, move the cable, is the lever moving at all?

It's a really basic thing. I have some pics somewhere of a dismantled heater, which from memory shows how the lever/flap works - if that would be any use to you. Donald

I had a similar issue where is was very stiff to move the selector.

I removed the cable from the lever ontop of the heater box in the engine bay. Where the cable joins the lever there is a joint that should move so that the cable is always in the correct position to the heater matrix. This was very stiff. Some 3-in-1 oil and a little patience got this moving again.

The cable was also a little stiff, so some 3-in-1 on that helped as well.

yeah lads get me some snaps, just so I have a good idea on what why and when, The old landy was spot on, but this one seems to be on constant warm or hot. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I gave this a spray down and looked at the control on the heater box itself, on cold its pointing horizontal, then it moves to the driverside for the hot air, so I am suspecting something not right there. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

The flap in the box isn't sprung at all, so any movement will be coming from the cable. Donald

its moving, I am suspecting that the cable is seized. I will have bum up to my dad with his, just in case, mine is ok, and there is something else wrong Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

You have previously mentioned that the spacers were missing from the in cab controls. Did this bend / kink the cable too tight? Maybe worth disconnecting both ends of the cable straightening as much as poss and work it back and forth.
