Tab washer should be bent up into the cut out shown in your 1st picture and down to lock the nut to the arm

Cheers, I was thinking about this last night, thinking how does this stop the nut undoing with only one side bent down. Hammer time! 1999 Defender TD5 110

The gap is normal, it’s a taper spline so as long as it’s done up F.T. then all will be well.

When I replaced mine I didn’t fold the washer over immediately.
I torqued the nut up every night for a few days first. Then folded the washer over. It’s a chamfered spline so ideally should never reach the top or it would rub when in action. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html Instagram - @r22oyp Roy |

Thanks both.
If F.T = 178nm then yep. its F.T. That eases my mind. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
