I know, but I can hope can't I. Had the engine light come on, fault code on scan gauge was PO404, usual reset me thinks....
Only then did I realise I had not heard the usual cleaning noise for a while, you know, the one you get when you shut off the engine. So, double checked an no, silence when you turn engine off - is it dead (trucks done 36k). if so how much will it cost to replace, any idea of time involved, part cost etc....  |

Cheers guys - saw the eBay part and looked under bonnet - cant even make out where it is, let alone see how to remove it - not helped in my case be lots of underbody wax all over the place left my before and after treatment. Any idea how much it would cost in labour (ie, how long someone who knew what they were doing would take).
Same question about blanking kit I guess, and in any case would the blanking kit work with a faulty unit ie, surly the engine light would still continue report a fault  Last edited by Kez on 23rd Jun 2011 6:22pm. Edited 1 time in total |

It's cooled so probably 2 hours I would say. if you look at the factory manual that will tell you where it is. it's not a hard job to replace and the detail is in the factory manual.

Same to you mike, but if somehow I doubt I could get it done in two days let alone two hours - many many years ago I had to replace a blown piston on a Triumph Spitfire (my first car!), was due to go on holiday with my girlfriend on the Monday, stared Friday night, finished 6 days later. We are no longer together (care or girl  ) |

Or you could forget all about it and give Gary at Alive tuning a call and get your Landy remapped ( mind and ask for the forum discount
 ) and you get the EGR closed upgrade included

Try giving the unit a sharp tap with a hammer stale or similar (the wooden bit!)
mine played up with poor internal connections, removed, stripped, cleaned & reassembled, but still needs a little tap now and again - saving for a remap and removal kit now.....

"Try giving the unit a sharp tap with a hammer" thats my kind of mechanics so just did as suggested, removed connector, sprayed a bit of WD40 around, put it back on, hit unit and guess what - its working fine again

If it is very dirty inside, hence sticking, would using a 2 Stroke Oil Mix help

Would imagine adding a 2 stroke would increase emissions and hence extra soot, but what do I know - have seen a few debates on the subject, some on here, so far no definitive answer as far as I can see, just subjective opinions

As I said, lots of people think this same, but as yet no one has pointed to and 'official' published research to substantiate that opinion. Surely if it was that simple fuel companies would add it at source for minimal cost and have a 'new' product that they could use for both a PR /marketing advantage as well as a premium product?
