Put the tin of waxoyl in a bucket of hot water and it'll be easier to apply

I just had mine done too. So when it came to bolting all the bits and pieces back onto the underside I purchased a couple of aerosol cans of waxoyl, left them in the sink submerged in hot water for 30 mins and it sprayed beautifully onto all the new bolts, nuts etc with no splatter or blocked nozzles
I also purchased the spray kit but for small touch up jobs the aerosol cans are brill apart from the price, £8 odds a can from halfrauds |

What would be the point of having it done in the first place? Oh well, a hot enough steam clean and solvent / detergent wash ought to shift a lot of ordinary Waxoyl from external surfaces but you'll not get it out of the inside of the chassis frame etc. Steve. Removing waxoyl can be done easily if you want to (why would you) get a 5l tub of WD40 spray the chassis and then blast off.
In terms of adding removing bits - i would keep (and do) a selection of waxoyl prodcuts - brush on, aresol and spray. Every time i remove something on the disco or in fact the 90 when i had it, i would recoat and apply where there never had been any. But one thing i would say - no matter how hard you try and we no Zag has played a little with waxoyl - a land rover will rust and will corrode if you use it! The more you protect the known points, the more another area will. I always thought the common points are the path of least resistance and actually the more difficult areas then will rust. I would still waxoyl it though! Mike |

Hi Eutek, I haven't got a Doctorate in Waxoyl but as others have said, yes you will need to reapply Waxoyl or similar to any newly exposed areas to keep them rust free and it's good practice to put a smear of copper grease on bolt threads so they can be easily removed in the future if necessary, especially underside fasteners |
