Mines a 90 so the brackets are slightly different but the guard leans back at an angle whereas you have yours upright.

Hi Yatsey
Yeah that’s a different bracket to mine, the bottom of my guard is angled back but the top sits straight the bottom brackets all went together without a hitch so thinking I may have the wrong uppers! 2023 Defender L663 V8 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 (gone) 2010 110 XS Utility 2.4TDCI 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 (gone) 2007 Discovery HSE TDV6 (gone) 1993 110 csw 200 tdi (gone) 1994 90 HT 300 tdi (gone) 1994 discovery 300tdi (gone) 90 hybrid 3.5 v8 (gone) Range rover bobtail 3.5 v8 (gone) |

When I bought my 90 new, the dealer fitted a genuine Land Rover dog/cargo guard. I seemed to remember that the brackets marked LH and RH were fitted with the LR on the right hand side and RH on the left hand side. I'm assuming that the brackets had the labels switched when new. I've just gone out to the garage to check and they are definitely fitted the wrong way according to the labelling. Maybe this is your problem - just a thought! Defender 90XS SW

Just looked at mine. I recall it was a nightmare to fit. I assembled it all loosely and after a fight it went in.Excuse the dangerous (ikea rats) cargo!

I removed a guard a couple of days ago from a 2010 110. I am certain those brackets were one bolt further forward.
Mine had a 45 degree angle bracket from the door post to the roof join and the back bolt was used for both the guard bracket and the angle support. Is it possible to move your bracket one bolt further forward? |

I fitted one last year and it was a right pain to do. In the end I slackened everything off (bottom section as well) and managed (with a bit of brute force) to get those brackets to fit - it was tough going though!
Have removed the upper section a couple of times to transport long items and it’s still a fight to get those two sides to marry up and tighten ![]() 2017 D5 2012 FFRR TDV8 |

I don’t think anyone has found fitting these dog guards easy ever.
