Sometimes the designers get it right. Lets wait and see what it looks like in the flesh. Doesnæt take a lot to respect the heritage of the previous model and still bring it up to modern standards.

013A, correct. Not trying to act like an arse but I don’t have the patience to watch a vid. On a forum I rather have people post a short comments instead of long videos.
Anyways, unlike most of the Defender owners I’m going to wait before my judgement. Probably not going to buy one myself. But that’s because I can’t imagine the car costing less than 60k euro in Holland. A Wrangler does 100k easily including tax today. |

I would be rather interested in the axle shafts diameter, differentials, monting points for front, rear, side protection, gear box and transfer case...its all unknown yet. Il Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR

Another over priced, over complicated piece of poo built for urbanites with more money than sense,
True off road vehicles don’t have independent suspension on air bags, radiators mounted in front of the front wheels, 18 plus alloy wheels, and over turbo reliant 2.0 engines. The Gerry guy with the awful poodle perm mullet started with the freelander and now we have this. Land Rover needs putting out of its misery so it can rip. Harsh but true. The future i am afraid is Jeep, Toyota and ford. |

I am so disappointed , hey it might look ok , but it is another SUV . Land Rover showrooms look bland now without some kind of commercial vehicle in them . Land Rover is a marmite brand , and will this suv bring a storm of new customers in the door ? I say , some for twelve months , but not many . Is this the creation that is going to restore brand Kudos that has been dissipating for years ? No because of its excessive complexities , purchase price and no doubt running costs . Like all JLR products the deprecation is going to be painful , because this is another mass produced SUV. The Defender was an exclusive vehicle with plenty of faults , but it had Kudos . And a trip down the road , always felt special , despite most motorists not really getting it . The word is out and has been for years , you don't buy a Land Rover ! Despite more and more JLR models , there sales are falling , not good for there survival , Jeep outsold them in there home market of Europe , And the C E O admits Defender2 is going to be a tough launch , Talk about an admission of defeat before it is even launched , Unbelievable , Ever hear this comment from the Japanese ?? |

None of those look anywhere near as good as the originals and I'd be surprised if they sold as many either. From a design point of view it's just too much of a leap doing that to a classic and the result ends being an ersatz version or pastiche. Generally I prefer it when cars are improved over time and evolve like the 911, G Class etc. Although one notable exception is the Fiat 500 which is arguably a worthy successor. |

So the Freelander continues to move upmarket, and no doubt get more expensive. With no model below it sub £32K and no honest, "non-premium" model in the range, I'm not sure how that will improve sales for the brand. |

Agreed Mike.
It leaves me cold, I hate the dash location of the gear selector - reminds me of the Fiat Multipla. Do people really want seating for three abreast and not have a cubby box / arm rest, does anyone really want to sit in the middle and get elbowed by the driver for the duration of a journey? I guess we have to fear the worse, hope for the best and not be surprised if LR blow it. |
