Central Locking.
Any suggestions to this problem. My key fob activates the central locking and the alarm etc. but I can still open the driver's door as if the car were unlocked. All the other doors are locked and the alarm works. Guessing an issue with the actual locking mechanism?

Probably a broken wire inside the rubber trunking that links the door to the body work.

Common problem. When I bought mine, both rear doors were not locking. Craig Rogers

Yep had a non functioning locking door on mine and it turned out to be a broken wire.Another problem I had was caused by the following. If you do take off the door trim and look at the locking mechanism you will see a little white plastic unit which turns and activates connecting rods. The inside circular piece can be tight and will not swivel. I had to remove mine, remove the centre piece and run a circular file in the surrounding retaining piece. A little oil on reassembly and all was o.k. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Ditto as X-isle and Spudfan.

My rear passenger door on the drivers side stopped locking centrally. Had a look and sure enough the pink wire had broken in the middle of the gator from the pillar to the door. Will get dealer to fix it though as they'll probably put a complete new door loom in. Hope this helps 2008 110 XS CSW Stornoway Grey

Gents,

Thanks for the suggestions. My lock on the drivers door is moving but not fully so I assume it is mechanical as opposed to electrical.

Are the studs that hold the door card on reusable or will i need to get new ones to refit it once I take it off and fix the problem?

Cheers.

As long as you are careful pulling them off, you can usually reuse them. Craig Rogers

Found out that it is a mechanical issue causing the problem. I assume the mechanism is slightly worn preventing the central locking from locking the door. There is a rod that could be adjusted to lock it but there isn't enough thread on it to take up the slack. Rubbish description of the problem I know!
