Self cancelling indicators don't work
My indicators don't self cancel so I took the steering wheel apart to try and fix the issue. Does anybody know what I need to get to fix the problem?...

This is the back of the steering wheel...

And this is where it mounts to the car...

You're missing the pins. Guess your steering wheel is from one of the last Defenders.

edit: no need for a new steering wheel. You could drill to small holes in the rear and smash some hollow pins in it.
The should be able to operate the blue ring. Can make a photo of the correct location tonight if you need it.

Two things I'd add:

1) in your second pic, on the blue plastic ring around the steering column, you can make out an arrow moulded into the plastic. It's at the 12 o'clock position in your pic. It needs to be at the 9pm position - pointing towards the indicator stalk - when you fit/refit the wheel.

2) so, as tookaphotoof says, you need pins in your steering boss at (as it's fitted) the 12 o'clock and six o'clock poistions.

I was having issues with this when I fitted an optimill boss. Don't really know why. It's got 'rolled' pins, so I just bent them a little to help them engage in the cancelling ring, but I'm not 100% sure it was needed.

Anyway - my thought at the time was simply to tap a thread into the holes in the boss; cut the head of a long-ish bolt, and thread that into the boss.

If you can't retrofit proper LR pins to that wheel, then maybe tapping a thread in would be a work-around?? Donald

I believe that this is what you're missing.

As above you have a 2015MY wheel and a pre 2015MY indicator stalk setup. You need to add cancelling pins, the NRC7636 part won't fit the 2015MY wheel directly.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
