I have some backlash on my 300tdi, which is getting worse.
Rear diff, gearbox recon, cv joints front new, props all good. How much movement should there be up and down, on the transfer box flange where the front prop fits?. Many thanks |

There shouldn't be any but i have always found there is a small amount detectable if you lay underneath and give it a shake. From memory the front output bearing isnt a press fit into the housing but is circliped in, a fractional movement of this feels worse than it is.

Another issue there is although it is not so likely to suffer as much water ingress on the front. If oil can leak out moisture can get in. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
