Question !! Are the 2012/2014 MY engine mounts fluid filled ?? I have a clear reddish hydraulic fluid like fluid in the area of the mount, no idea what else it could be. Its not anti-freeze dose not smell or feel right. Its not engine oil so even me a Land Rover expert is scratching my head a bit. Internet and searches on here showing nothing of interest.
Anyone got any info please. I was towing heavy trailers up steep hills last week it is entirely likely the engine mount could have failed. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. Good shout but not dark enough red, it is a very light oil tinged red, i have not changed my pas fluid for 100thou so that would be dirty also.
The puddle in the drive has also evaporated leaving a stain, deffo not anti freeze does not smell right and has an oily feel, If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. Bear in mind the OAT coolant does go dark in colour when it dries or has been very hot.
I noticed this when I had a coolant leak when it dried on the water pump when I had issues there. It may not be that of course, but I did notice this as I thought at the time hmmm. I thought it was orange. It is when it goes in but it isn't when it dries out or has been very hot.

Just out of interest to narrow down the area , which side of the engine and is front or rear. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Found this but it's not a particularly reliable source - "hydraulic engine mount"

Funny you say that; my Td5 both the engine mounts have traces of a fluid coming out of them and staining the (galvanized) chassis (thus its easy to see) Td5 & puma use the same mount. I know a lot of the Merc mounts are properly oil filled, but not sure about LR... there must be something inside them that a few of us are experiencing whatever it is "leaking" out. |

N/S engine mount, fluid leaking to the rear of it and running down the chassis. I have double treble checked al pipes and pums ect above it all dry. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

I had the same thing happen about 4 or 5 weeks ago.
Check the oil filter assembly if its the same as the 2.4 filter assembly it will have a cooler on it, check round the rubber pipe's that is were mine was leaking from the spigot that is bolted to oil filter , its the one faces the side of the engine. The spigot fractured and was leaking, I mistook what was coming out as hydraulic fluid it was such a dark colour . A local indie that did the work said the thermostat that is part of the spigot had also failed. Don't make old people mad. The Oil filter of the early 2.2 engines is the same as for 2.4 engine. Later models use a spin-on filter, whereas 2.4 and early 2.2 engines use a paper filter.

Found my leak at long last and only as a result of a neigh on impossible to change turbo hose failing. The hose in question is the 90 deg one under the inlet manifold but whist in there with a lot of the water hoses removed i found the plastic rear outputs from the water pump has an "O" ring that fails and leaks under pressure, trickles down the metal inlet pipe and onto the engine mount. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
