See below pic. I assume injector seal 3 has gone. Is it worth to change all 4 or would you only change the third one?
Click image to enlarge It's starting to get a very very long list: 1. Coolant loss, luckily it drips so hopefully no head gasket. But Haven't found the leak 2. Aircon isn't working, haven't found leak 3. transfer box is leaking heavily 4. Stubs between exhaust manifold and turbo are still coming loose 5. Wobble at 50-60 mph, suspect steering damper 6. Seals shot at intake manifold (i guess) 7. And last but not least clutch is almost shot. Still have to decide between clutchfix and lof extreme clutch Luckily the wipers are still operational a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

Change all 4 seals including the two securing bolts. Ensuring they get torqued up to the correct figure after as they’re stretch bolts and known for snapping. You may also need a few more seals like the rocker cover. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

with a skinny screwdriver/bolt wrapped with cloth. Just to remove any debris. No need to replace the clamps I would say. Puma 110" SW

Thnx. I’ve read the manual and i’ve got 2 questions.
1. Do I also need new fuel lines? 2. If using the 4 original injectors do I need to do the relearn? a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

Most people use same lines. You should not need to go through the relearn process. Needless to say you fit each injector back to its original position. Puma 110" SW

To me that doesn't look like a bad injector seal, but rather a bad seal at the hard line leading to the injector. These engines do have a lot of problems with the injector seals and you could also have that problem - in which case that kit you showed would be exactly what you need. But it looks to me like the leak is actually at the acorn joint of the hard line. The manual recommends that you replace the hard lines if you remove the injectors. I bought a new set of hard lines when I did my injector seals, but didn't use them because the hard lines all looked fine.

If you are using the four original injectors, which will probably all be fine once they are cleaned up, and put them all back in their original locations they will be fine. No need to re-learn them. I have had mine in and out about three times while trying to sort out my injector seal issues and have not had any problem with the injectors as long as I put them back in the same place they came from. |

It is a job that I have to face soon. Are the injectors easy to remove, or do they usually lock on carbon?
How do you clean the seat on the cylinder cover? regards |
