Hi,
Anyone ever experienced their battery back up sounder going on fire. Mines has just burst into flames when driving along the road i can only assume the battery has overheated and self combusted.

I had just stopped to talk to someone and noticed a burning smell which i never thought much of until i moved off and the thick smoke appeared from the bonnet edge, luckily i had a fire extinguisher at hand i gave it a blast and managed to unplug it. Nothing else is damaged luckily apart from my boxers 😂

That is proof (if ever anyone needed it) that you should always carry a fire extinguisher in your vehicle Shocked 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

From the picture, battery is on the opposite side of the connector, so they are probably not the origin od fire. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Blimey that's not great! Does answer an idle musing of mine about whether it would be possible to replace the cells in the bbus though!

Lucky you caught it when you did, did the battery look scorched? Perhaps if the battery had gone bad, the incoming charge caused it to overheat. 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2
