I sometimes have a vibration through my steering wheel. It can happen around 55 / 65 mph.
Strange thing is, I don’t have it always and it. Keeping exactly the same speed the vibration ca occur or disappear. Anyone know what I should look for first? |

Thanks. BFG KO2 on mine, but I'll see if I can order some balancing beads to try first.

I had this and it was just the wheel balance. Good luck. James

I had this sort problem on a Discovery that was driving me mad. I had the wheel balanced about 3 times at different places, both front wheels stripped and new bearings still couldn't sort it. The Indy I was using had to take on a mechanic over the summer to cover for holidays this turned out to be a retired mechanic with years of experience of Land Rovers, he took it out for a drive and when he came back pronounced that it was the steering damper that was starting to fail, so it was changed and that fixed the problem. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Richard, thanks.
I figured I might as well change the damper for a fresh unit first so ordered one from OME. Had a laugh when I took the old one out. It was past its way out! I’ll have my wheels checked anyways but boy, does it make a difference, already! |

Its one of the things about this forum, someone more than likely will have had a similar problem and they are not afraid to share the experience and the fix. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Worth checking the panhard rod bushes too. Cheap as chips and easy to change. DON'T PANIC

I've been having the same problem. Apparently, when fitting bigger tyres and wheels, the swivel pin preload should be adjusted. Start by removing the smallest shim each side to see if this alleviates the problem. If the steering wheel doesn't self-centre when moving then too many shims have been taken out.
My next stop is DynaBeads if this doesn't work. |

Is the quality still somewhat there? Cheap things always make me a bit nervous. Last edited by Marzano on 1st Sep 2023 4:45pm. Edited 2 times in total |
