Thanks guys
So today I fitted a new bonnet release cable and a new accelerator cable. Bled the clutch while I had good access to the slave cylinder. I spent a bit of time connecting up the wiring loom. Not surprised that I seem to have a few wires looking for a home so I'll need to do some more research. Looking through all the pics I took during the strip down it appears that the connectors I want to check are just out of shot 
I also dismantled the heater chamber/dash shelf and it took ages to get the screws out as most had soft heads and were rusted in position. The dash pad, wiper motor cover and shelf unit have gone away for recovering. I was going to replace them as they were but because that's what you see every time you get in they may as well look tidy. I offered up the passenger side inner wing only to find that the screw plugs on the bulkhead footwell panel bracket are 20mm off centre so they will need a little persuasion into position but that's a job for another day. |

Today I decided to start and finish at least one job so I had a go at the wipers.
Drilled and riveted in the vent mesh screens. Then reassembled and fitted wiper motor, new tubing and new wheel boxes. All went well until the wiper motor seemed to be a little low on the bulkhead. Then I realised that the wheelboxes were upside down. 
So with that rectified I moved on to a twin washer up grade which was straightforward enough. Washer jets and wiper spindles were secured with a small bead of tiger seal to stop water ingress. Somewhere along the way I seem to have lost the spring clip that secures the wiper park switch so the days task is not completed just yet. Is the clip used elsewhere on the Defender or only on the switch? Anyone got one lying around?  Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Breaking News!!!
After 30 minutes looking through assorted tubs of fittings removed from the 90 I found the missing clip 👏👏 I don't remember putting it away so it must have been saved with other bits and pieces collected during the strip down. Happy days. One more job off the list  |

Not a lot to report lately. Progress was interrupted by some work in the garden and a week R&R in the Canaries.
Tough I know but someone has to do it. I seem to be taking 2 steps forward and 1 backwards lately. The clutch that I connected up recently has developed a weep and fluid is making its way down the pedal and onto the floor. So I reckon a seal kit is required. I got the pass side innerwing on but the copper pipe to the brake got kinked and broke away. The pipe should have been a little longer to avoid sharp any bends. I made up some new pipework so hope to bleed the brakes tonight. On the plus side the vents are back on with new seals and I got the dash and shelf back from the trimmers. Not cheap but a good job and a major part of the interior. www.at-autostyle.com in Kilkenny did the work and their gallery is well worth a look. Some tasty jobs on there.

Making a bit of headway now.
Wings on, lined up and bolts good and tight. Drilled the footwells for the wing stay anchor point. It was a bit of a job getting the bolts into the top of the inner wing/outer wing joint but I got there eventually. Changed a few dubious connections and tidied up the wiring. Got the lights fitted and changed the headlamp bezels. I noticed that the headlamps don't match, the drivers one has the sidelight bulb fitting in the lamp but It will have to do for now. Got the bumper and steering guard on. Expansion tank and PS reservoir on drivers wing along with the bonnet stay.
Looks like I'm missing the prop/support that fits between the expansion tank and the chassis rail. I don't remember removing it so it may have been missing for some time. Managed to fit the air filter and associated pipework. It was a struggle to connect the rubber hose onto the 90 degree plastic bend that mates with the wing vent. It's a tight fit between the inner wing and the bottom of the heater and difficult working between the inner and outer wings. I don't think it's possible to connect everything before the wing goes on as then there wouldn't be any access to the wing/ bulkhead bolts. The heater air duct and the washer bottle were a doddle in comparison. I made a start on the inside and got the lower dash and wiper cover mounted on the bulkhead. I have the dash in now and everything seems to be working bar the front offside side light.
I was about to fit the fuse board but I'm not sure of the thread in bulkhead rivnut. M5 is too small and M6 too big, maybe it's UNF. Any ideas?? There is a gap between the top crashpad and the grey back panel of the parcel shelf on the passenger side. Is this correct or am I missing a small bit of trim??
