Yes it has a pipe and a blanking plate. Very different from the 300Tdi. The pipe replaces the EGR valve and the plate covers the hole where the gasses come into it on the exhaust side of the motor. Suggest you look for a stainless unit rather than a mild steal. Most seem to be decent quality hence the broad recommendation rather than a specific supplier.

I hunted around and found X8R kit that I liked the look of. All really really nicely made, all the bolts and gaskets. Good fast delivery

The one above that I bought is for the later egr that has a cooler on the front of the engine, so extra blanks are required. Earlier ones don’t have the cooler so their cheaper kit can be used.

I have just fitted one of these excellent kits to my 2004 TD5 Defender. Can thoroughly recommend them. Mine was the more expensive kit for the EU3 15P TD5 with cooled exhaust EGR inlet, which needs to have the extra blanking plates. Cheers, Lionel |

You don't need any extra bits for a vehicle with the EGR cooler, just the pipe to replace the EGR valve and the blanking plate for the exhaust manifold port. The EGR cooler can be left with the coolant pipes connected and the the inlet and outlet exhaust gas ports open.
A neater result can be obtained by removing the EGR cooler completely and rerouting the inlet coolant pipe to the destination of the outlet coolant pipe (or I suppose just connecting the inlet and outlet pipes together with a suitable coupling). I can't be more specific about the coolant pipes on a Defender since I have only done this on a Disco which, I suspect, is different. |

It’s easier to just leave cooler in place just incase you need to reinstate the egr, as mot laws are changing. It’s only going to be extra cooling. I prefer to blank the ports on the cooler as I don’t want any rubbish getting in there, and it’s only a couple of quid extra.

Looking at this eBay supplier the kits look ok but I'm not sure which to go for. Any advice welcome.
I'm thinking that the one with a take off for a Boost Guage might be the way to go. I am about to upgrade the intercooler and do a stage 2 but not thinking about changing the turbo, nevertheless is a boost guage worth having? Doesn't that connect directly to the turbo?
