Hello johnnyd Looks as though you have resolved this with Martin's help... just to add into this and answer your question above, this is my 2.4 (2010-11) and the Puma Relay sequence... I wanted to replace the Main and Starter Relays to exclude these from my periodic non-starter...turned out to be the ignition switch once or twice a month nothing, no turn over, no almost but not quite firing...nothing, wait and try again would more than likley result in a start... ) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Good Luck... Indeed I do have my defender back......All I shall say on the matter is I shan't ever be using my local 4x4 garage ever again, the amount of grief that badly fitted second grade new ignition 18 months ago has caused me is beyond belief........There are other reasons also I am not going back there, but this was the final straw with them.
What I can say though is how wonderful Martin was in all aspects.....lovely guy, knowledgable, and I know this was a job done properly and with care, could not fault his professionalism and skill in ascertaining the problem. Parked the car at work this afternoon after driving from Martins, and left work around 6PM, nervously got into the truck and turned the key........and YES ......a confident first time start.......one of many I hope. Martin is a star and I am so grateful to him. ......I also forgot to ask him for some defender2 stickers..... JD 2008 TDCi 2.4 XS CSW |

I heard of a Citroen that sometimes would not turn off...even with the key removed. The problem turned out to be a mobile phone sitting on the dash.
A Kia would not start at the local shop. The problem turned out to be a Ford car parked beside it. The immobiliser on the Ford would not let the Kia start. Once the Ford left the Kia started. The owner of the Kia who is a mechanic told me both of those stories. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

JUst caught up with this thread....
My random cutting out was due to a faulty ignition barrel, I never got any codes from it though as it seemed to by pass that. It's been good for 12 / 18 months now since a new one fitted Great result sure it will be great now |
