Immobiliser LTB00893 Bulletin
What do we all know about the LTB00893 Bulletin. My immobiliser seems to be at fault meaning the car obviously won't start. It seems to be affecting the central locking, indicator lights and interior light which leads me to think it is a faulty 10AS unit.

The unit is no longer produced so needs to be updated and therefore updates to wiring and the key fob.

Has anybody had this issue?

Also Land Rover seem to be of no help at all regarding the issue/bulletin or parts needed to repair.

Thanks

Thanks dorsetsmith I have had a read through that post and a few others. I was just wondering if anybody had any tips on resolving the issue or dealing with Land Rover regarding the parts etc.

Thumbs Up

There have been several LTBs concerning the AS10 and its successor, three of which have been discussed in the linked thread above.

LTB00893 however, as far as I know, covers the case when an AS10 (or the cheap-and-nasty thing that LR replaced the AS10 with when the AS10 became available) becomes unserviceable, and involves the removal of the AS10-type system and its replacement with a number of discrete devices. In effect it is a replacement of the entire alarm and immobiliser system with something completely different.

I also believe that it is an expensive modification.

Hello sweepc

In considering your options it may be worth speaking with Paul Brown
at Technozone. If your AS10 is at fault this may be one route to see if
it can be saved.

Paul was extremely helpful to me when I had an intermittent starting problem
and was progressively working through the Puma set up to find the fault
(Lucus Ignition Switch... Defender used daily 1 non start a month Shocked )

Thanks guys, I have already read up on all the related posts on the forum. My 10AS unit seems to have totally failed so it won't start at all. Blackwolf the parts for the modification are pretty expensive, I was initially told in excess of £1000 but its a little less. The replacement unit itself is identical however it need a number of other additional components. Big Cry

Not looked to be honest, I don't know any local breakers that would have one and I wouldn't want to buy something like that online for obvious reasons. Also the unit clearly isn't manufactured very well, I believe it has now been superseded 7 times so I'm told. I wouldn't want to be too far from home only to suffer with the same fault again.

It shouldn't matter buying one online... you have to synch them with the engine ECU (which the seller won't know), and you can delete any programmed plippers and install your own.

the only thing that would remain the same would be the PUK code thing... you could always get the unit posted to another address (family member?) no where near you.

I wasn't too bothered about that, I'm just weary about buying parts for newer Defenders online because of the theft issue. Of course I wouldn't have an issue buying from a reputable company but couldn't find any at the time. I'm certainly not going to buy such a unit from just anybody off the internet. Big Cry
