Yes, it is a well-known feature. There are solutions, which vary from moving the handles round a bit on their spigots, through bungee straps, to fitting electric lift motors.

Just move the handles so they are in a position that down of the handle would make the window raise. That way as they vibrate they will be forcing the window shut, not opening it.
It’s worked for my last two Defenders. |

Thanks for posting the question! Obviously I didn't know it was a common thing. I'll be rebuilding new 2nd row doors soon - I'll make sure the winder is properly placed! Donald

Yes. The winder handle is held onto the spline of the winder by a small circlip which engages with a groove in the spline (I’ll send a photo if I get a minute). Wrap a piece of thin cloth around the base of the handle and slide it back and forth (whilst pulling it in the direction of the base of the handle) and that’ll pop the clip off - just don’t ber-ding the clip onto the lawn like I did! |

Mine used to drop irrespective of the knob position, and I used to have a short loop of bungee round the knob and door handle to stop this. The permanent cure was to fit an electric lift kit to the second row.

I was thinking about this, and came to more or less the same conclusion. If the window is dropping, then the weight of the glass, plus the winder 'gubbins' is going to be so much heavier that a small plastic handle, surely? If the window wants to drop,I guess it will just drop - unless you lock the handle somehow. I assume another solution is to make sure that the window channels/felts, and the internal and external waist seals are in good nick. Changing all of that is much more involved though, so a bungee on the winder sounds like a cunning plan in the meantime. Two 110s. Both used to have dropping rear windows. Moving the handles sorted the problem on all for me.

I think it all depends on how much friction there is in the mechanism. If enough, then adjusting your knob will do the trick. On mine, however I positioned my knobs the glass would drop, so this lead to the bungee-round-the-knob trick which sorted the problem. The electric solution is better though.
