Dont worry ken - you cant tell a BMW driver anything...its a trait they all carry, like not understanding what indicators are for and having to carry their ego around on a 40t truck

And BTW all cars have good and bad days - reliability surveys a about as much use as a chocolate tea cup in hell

My first BMW actually - very solidly made, the 335d has proven ultra reiiable. The complete opposite of the RRS bought for...errmmmm... it's ability to make one look as classy as an Alsation chained to a chrome caravan perhaps?

Taking the IAM test at 22 and then Intensive Police training (a lot more involved than the IAM test you've done too...) a year later taught me a few things about indicators. I guess you don't learn such things at football club? Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Not all this again, we've heard it all before . . .

You all chose to drive Defenders, so let's talk about them instead.

The difference is, I own and like my Defender. MSE appears to have not had what it takes to own and love them, flounced off in a huff and now feels the need to keep telling us how much his "better" his RRS is... Rolling Eyes

The list of cars I really do NOT like is very small - the RRS is definitely high up on the small list. The real RR is high up on the cars I really LIKE.

But apparently an RRS is as fast as a 286bhp 3 series BMW, as good off road as a Defender and as comfy as any luxury car... Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing See, it does it all does a RRS... Rolling with laughter Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

I certainly don't recall seeing a flounce from Mike.

However, your multiple flounces on the towing thread was the stuff of internet legend Laughing

No doubt you will feel that I am "picking", though both of the above are fact as opposed to speculation.

If I could be bothered, I could find multiple anti Defender bleats from MSE.

If I could be bothered, I could find many moaning, bleating threads from you.

However you've just saved me all that bother because anyone that says "the stuff of internet legend" is a lost cause Laughing I also suggest looking up the words "fact" and "speculation" as you appear to be having trouble with them. Maybe they don't use them over the Pond?

I'm sure you'll carry on though Mike - I believe this is a very appropriate picture that sums you up perfectly:

Laughing Wow! Can't believe I had the power to start all that off! Smile

Just for the record, I actually believe that the Defender is still a quality put together bit of kit. After coming from an L200, you just can't compare the quality between them. Yeah ok, maybe some of the Jap stuff is a bit more techy and reliable, but that just isn't the British spirit. Mr. Green Craig Rogers

Agreed. I've seen "hand built" British cars that are MUCH worse made. TVR, Morgan, etc - shockingly bodged and held together with glue and bog roll.

TBH I think if you got a spirit level out on most Defenders, there'd be a bit of droop. There's not much holding that section on and they are often walked on (we walk on ours!). Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

I took my new Defender back into Duckworth LR about this exact same problem, and they squared them up for me without question. Still not completely perfect, but much better than from the factory.

To me, it looks as if the car has had a stroke, and being a demonstrator, it had to be right.

I had a much less interesting Astra 1.9CDTi 150 from new for four years. It had swirl flap failure at 38k miles still under warranty. The Vx dealers were near criminal in their dealings with it - wouldn't lend us a courtesy car while it was being fixed, told us they'd pay for a hire car (made us find one) then wouldn't cough up - my wife was eight months pregnant (we limped to the dealer in safe mode) and they wouldn't even give us a lift home, they damaged it and tried to get away with it, were extremely rude, etc, etc - I will NEVER buy a Vauxhall again even though the car wasn't actually bad at all apart from the engine issue. I was so angry, I considered fairly drastic action. Luckily I didn't carry it out. So just for Google hits - never ever ever use WARD VAUXHALL.

Anyway rant over - bet the car was a lot of fun - I seriously considered one for a while! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.
