Again, are these strictly recalls or just service bulletins? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Exactly. If they were recalls they would have recalled all the models affected for rectification. |

If they are just service bulletins, does that mean we have to have exhibited the symptoms before they rectify the issue (i.e breather problems, sump collision, vacuum pump leak...).
Can we just request that they change the parts to prevent problems arising (so long as the part numbers/VIN confirm eligibility)? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

I had an early oil and filter change done at an independent. Shortly afterwards I noticed oil dripping from the oil filter. Went back for a new filter. Same problem developed. He was not using a genuine Land Rover filter. Anyway the Defender went into a maindealer to check the engine management light (faulty senser) and I mentioned about the leaking engine oil filter. They changed it with the genuine article and I have no leaks. They said it must have been a faulty seal. I did'nt say that I'd had it done by someone else who used the non Land Rover filter. Don't feel guilty either!
The independent supplied my Defender and has many years Land Rover experience. Swears by the the filters he uses. Must be the very fine synthetic oil in the Tdci. Funnily enough when the independent changed the first leaking filter he topped up the engineoil to compensate for the bit lost during the changing from one filter to another. The maindealer did'nt so I must top it up on the weekend.I am sure the leaky filter would have done no harm as it was a miniscule amount. So it seems best to stick to the genuine article for services. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
