Fine in Oz where it's dry but in the UK I reckon it's a guaranteed leak source to avoid no matter how carefully it's sealed.

The leak issue is one to seriously consider but having had one on a previous Defender let go and shatter all over my and my boys noggins causing several lacerations while doing 70 down the A14 I never bothered again. They're not even big enough to stand through for lamping. Steve.

Mine leaked as it wasn't sealed from new. The water built up under the headlining causing it to bulge and like a numpty when I was bored waiting for my wife to finish shopping Yawn I pricked the bulge above me with a pencil and got covered in water Rolling Eyes

The other problem is the condensation that builds up on it and drip down your neck, the drops even freeze up in the winter and when they melt, yes, you get soaked again Rolling Eyes Couldn't stop the latch from rattling either Sad

My dealer told me categorically NOT to spec a sunroof in my 110 - he said it would just leak all over the place. The vehicle is airy enough that I can live without one. 2011 110 USW

I have a spare brand new frame and fittings minus the glass which can be got off Ebay. I bought a Military metal one and fitted my Lightforce on to it, saves drilling the roof. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Dont do it, mine came fitted with one from new, leaks, only slightly, BUT just the slightest shower and I get drips running down the lower front edge - goodness knows how much rust there is in the roof Neutral

It would seem that a good quality, well sealed sunroof, big enough to lamp through and made of something that won't easily shatter, would be a brilliant invention for our friends at Nakatanenga etc...

Taking a can opener to the roof does daunt me though.

I fitted a metal sunroof, no problems at all as it is fitted with a matching headlining panel. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I thought you were Scottish, Red Dot - that sounds like an Irish sunroof Laughing

Love a sunroof on most cars but NOT a Defender! And definitely avoid a retro fit - dad spent nearly a grand on one in a Golf. Utterly useless.

The panoramic one in the BM is great though. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.
