I'm.running gywn Lewis 2 inch spacers and shock drop plates. Much cheaper way of achieving 2 inch lift and keeping original articulation

Mark, you may find that 30mm wheel spacers (which will effectively make your Boosts 0mm offset) solve your rubbing problems. Where do they rub at the moment, and under what circumstances? |

That's a tidy looking Defender.. I wouldn't mind a roll cage myself, but need a slightly fatter wallet first Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

I don't think they'd fit without a lift
Click image to enlarge Funnily enough just bought a 110 and its standard height on 265... drives absolutely incredibly compared to the 90... lets put it this way I'm not lifting the 110 at all. But then I'm not pay and playing it either!!! |

Really need to find some green laning buddies near me. And more importantly, some green lanes lol. Not fond of the idea of taking my daily to a pay n play and wrecking it hahah Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

I always try and dissuade folk from lifting vehicles unless wanting to run bigger tyres than 33in- all you end up with is a vehicle that drives worse on the road for minimal benefit off it. for most folk its all about the look, rather than the functionality. A lift does not necessarily give you articulation- the limiting factor in this case is the length of the damper and limitations of the A-frame ball joint and the dislocation cones. As regards 255/85/16s they *should* fit at standard height so long as your springs are not tired with minimal rubbing. If you are running boosts you will probably need spacers to achieve this. Its a matter of degree though - not all lifted vehicles drive worse than stock.
I'm running a 35mm lift on my 110, and it objectively drives better than it did stock under almost all conditions (on road, off road, loaded, etc...). Obviously if you go to extremes, there will be compromises though. Its a matter of really determining your needs, and choosing the appropriate set-up to best meet them. |

Agree with you redline. That 90 of mine drove better than my Tdci did on standard suspension setup and anti rollbars.
I’m very against bolting some pooy Britpart or Terrafirma lift to a vehicle, but done with proper kit, it can give you all. Articulation, road manners, and reliability. I would happily fit the kit that I had on the 90 to any vehicle I have. |

Hi Landy Andy,
Would you mind providing details of the kit you fitted to achieve this? Thanks Mark |

Gwynn Lewis kit. Many like terriblefirma have copied it, but his is brilliant, and has been well tested in competitions.
It drove better than standard new Defender on road and was fantastic off road even when fully loaded with roof tent. When off road it was so stable as you didn’t really get to the point when it lurched from one side to the other due to be crossaxled. You just always knew how the vehicle would handle, never gave you a shock or fright. Andy. |

Thanks again |
