Not bad that at all looks like a garage has replaced the chassis hence the rusty parts.
Good stuff on getting a stack of parts. One thing though is if a job is going really well and your getting bored of it, stop. Move onto something else, that way you will return to it on a mental high. Same thing if things are going well and then they start to go off, stop and pack up. Come back at it again the next day. Yes Mash I agree, plan is to keep the cappings, rock sliders and rear corner cappings in the galvanise finish, undecided about the bulkhead yet .

Made some good progress over the Christmas break, working outside is always more pleasant when the weather is dry and mild.
Got the axle and suspension parts all stripped down and painted, 2 coats of Corroless chassis in one, its a good product and on first impression its a far superior product to the POR15 which I used on the last build. Time will tell tho. Also decided on installing super pro bushes all round , just waiting on axle parts now springs shox etc.. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

The bad news is I found more rot, front of the rear tub, battery box, so another order gone into the good people at YRM have most of it cut out now and prepped for the new parts.
Click image to enlarge And the sills and Door posts are rotten too, looked Ok on first inspection but once I went poking with the screwdriver.....thats a big expense I hadn't counted on and will probable look out for a full set of galvanised ones. |

Nice progress there Nidge shame about the extra rot found, but at least it will be done and you will know it will last 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Bit of an update, seat box rebuilt with new YRM battery box, under seat tool box and new end sections. purchased an air riveter which made light work of the job and the fit of the YRM parts was first class.
Click image to enlarge Also installed the new tub section and under tub support rail, just the new floor sections to make up now and then be ready for etch primer and paint. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Galvanized Cappings fitted and as new set of Puma station wagon rear springs on Gwyn Lewis galvanized hardware.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Biggest stumbling block for me now is the B-posts and sills, so if anyone knows of a good set about please let me know. Nidge. |
