Going to a double din
Currently have a Clarion NZ502e

Fantastic head unit.... just fancy a proper double din,

I have a rather large audio setup in the truck sounds amazing...

HDP4 powering focals front and rear,
HDP1 powering a Hertz 380D

all ran via proper audio cables etc...

Few questions, whose double din is preferred? Twisted's is nice considering i already have there full interior i might as well?

Other thing is, which head unit... Im currently stateside for another month is it worth buying over here or?

I want something at the higher end of the scale...

Thanks for the suggestions,

Just make sure you use one hat comes with vents - safes the faff of cutting them off!

You'll likely need to extend some switches to reach the new panel.

I went with the Sony - works really well with carplay or androidauto, so no need for gps antenna

DefenderUpgrades.co.uk do a "Double Din Dashboard Centre Fascia Console Gloss Black With Movable Air Vents" and a pretty reasonable price (£210). Can't comment on the quality but not heard any bad things. It's the one I would go for. Then modify the side panel to remove the circular hole. Or better still don't use the side switch panel and relocated buttons to cubby with some of MCMA1 switch surrounds Thumbs Up Just my two penth. James

I added this pod to shift the switches when I installed a flip out system. Would work for Double din too as you can add more switches instead of the gauge for example..
A bit of wiring but nothing too major. (hazzard switch conversion was more work but I prefer the look of the D2 switch) Thumbs Up

Not a fan of the pod on top, Ill take a look at the defenderupgrades option,

got a twisted cubby so don't fancy cutting into that... and a fair few extra switches for the Lazer LED gear. (all LR Aux switches)

Apologies if I understood it incorrectly, but by stateside, do you mean the US? If so, make sure that the radio/DAB will work here and that the maps do as well.

While it's been 10 yrs now, I once bought an EU factory navigation for a car I had in Canada which worked, however due to how address' are entered, that part didn't and I had to resort to coordinates.

Good luck,

P

I went for the Nakatenga surround , it’s great quality but the downside was having to cut the vents off the old one .
As above go for the defender upgrades one.

Also worth noting that the aperture in the surround is for the smaller double din units and there are some that won’t fit. I’ve got the Pioneer SPH DA120 , great sound,CarPlay compatible and takes a reversing camera should you need it !
