It just bolts down through the side sill/floor plate with a couple of M6 (or are they M bolts.
Hardest thing will be undoing them as more than likely rusted up underneath (as it's directly in the firing line of crud getting sprayed up... probably better just to tighten them up and shear them off. Think there's one that goes through the back as well. M6 |

It is one of those jobs that could take half an hour or a whole day depending on the corrosion. It could even involve replacement of the bit it attaches to.

I had to replace my seatbelt (due to it being frayed as passenger side kept catching in the door lock)
Mine was a 2009 Defender and did it last month - was very easy to take off the old one. |

But.... it's not the seatbox itself that the bracket bolts to... the brackets bolt through (and are secured by) the steel side sill underneath, and the B pillar (or back of the rear tub, whether it's a truck cab or SW)... the rear tub should have a steel plate behind it IIRC
Sooo.... with some large repair washers on the front of the seatbox, then you should be able to secure the seatbelt bracket AND stop that seatbox from wobbling around. However.... as your seats are also bolted to that seatbox, I'd be slightly concerened about their security! |

Thanks DJ, I didn't think of that.
I'm thinking to go with large washers or even a steel bar with 2 holes drilled in it, just too get it through the MOT. Then, perhaps get a replacement seat box |
