Dreaded intermittent power loss
Recently, my truck has been suffering from intermittent power loss - i.e. limited to 30mph. Was initially for a few seconds only but today lasted a bit longer - like almost a minute.

No MIL light showing but Nanocom reveals the following - could any of these be responsible? The Fuel Circuit ones seems relevant B1A75 - any idea of how to fix it?

FAULT 1 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:U3000
Control module
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
SYSTEM INTERNAL FAILURE -
CALIBRATION/PARAMETER MEMORY FAILURE.

FAULT 2 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:B1A75
Fuel sender 1 circuit
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
GENERAL FAILURE INFORMATION -
GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE.

FAULT 3 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:B1A81
Internal trip switch circuit
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
ALGORITHM BASED FAILURE -
SIGNAL PLAUSIBILITY FAILURE.

FAULT 4 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:U3000
Control module
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE -
CIRCUIT VOLTAGE ABOVE THRESHOLD.

FAULT 5 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:P1602
Immobilizer/engine control module communication error
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
FREQUENCY MODULATION/PULSE WIDTH MODULATION FAILURE -
NO SIGNAL.

FAULT 6 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:U0401
Invalid data received from engine control module/powertrain control module
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
ALGORITHM BASED FAILURE -
EVENT INFORMATION.

FAULT 7 OF 7
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:U2101
Control module configuration incompatible
(NOT TESTED DTC, PERMANENT)
GENERAL FAILURE INFORMATION -
NO SUBTYPE INFORMATION.

re P1602 - battery is on its way out I think. That could be the cause of this code.
Battery is the original from Oct 2009 when truck was first registered.
Its a MY2010 USW - XS spec 110.

Also, could a dodgy EGR cause intermittent power loss issues?

Mine has been noisy whilst driving but still does the five chukka chukkas when turning off the engine.

I would say looking at your DTC’s it will be the IPAC.
Record all the codes on paper and keep safe then clear them, before doing this check the connector plug to the rear is secure.
See what DTC’s if any are logged after that.

If there continues to be issues IPAC related, check the solder joints on the PCB and or try another IPAC cluster.

I would doubt the battery or EGR has anything to do with it as you’d get EGR codes or low voltage signal codes.
Also eat in mind the VCV has no MIL or DTC’s that logs when there could be issues there.

That would however, not cause the IPAC issues that are logged DTC’s.

Occasionally poor earthing can cause all sorts of phantom issues too. Like the time my transfer box earth strap was loose and when I would brake or indicate every light would light up like an Christmas tree internally or externally in different mannerisms.

Looking back afterwards it was rather entertaining but certainly not when it started out on the road!

As far as I’m aware the IPAC can be just changed over as all vehicle info is ECU stored. Unless anyone can correct me on this, if so please feel free.

Personally I’d try the easiest cheapest options first. No Guts, No Glory.

Thanks Steve, will check the IPAC connector and take it from there

These DTCs cannot be erased as they are "permanent" ones, meaning only resolution of the error in the relevant module will clear them.

Unplugging and re-plugging the IPAC seems to have cleared all codes except for the following:

FAULT 1 OF 2
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:P1602
Immobilizer/engine control module communication error
(NOT TESTED DTC)
FREQUENCY MODULATION/PULSE WIDTH MODULATION FAILURE -
NO SIGNAL.

FAULT 2 OF 2
ECU: Instrument Pack
CODE:U0401
Invalid data received from engine control module/powertrain control module
(NOT TESTED DTC)
ALGORITHM BASED FAILURE -
EVENT INFORMATION.

Hello, I have all these codes at present and my defender will not start.

Did you ever get to the bottom of it?

Cheers sam

Haven't had time to look into it = not used the car since the issues.

Will have a look when weather improves
