One of the recruitment consultants found me job opportunities in the pole!
I was tempted by the money, but I hate the cold... would definitely work in the Middle East again though Did I mention this recently... I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/ Current: TD5 '110 "Lucinda" Thread here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62562.html |

Just out of curiosity I had a browse through some of the jobs and had a closer look at the carpenters position. Looking through the requirements there's a lot of mention of working with asbestos so it would be safe to assume that they're refurbing a lot of the buildings with more modern insulation materials.
There is quite a lot of various skills needed from furniture repair and upholstery to instillation of computer flooring systems, various plant operator tickets from fork lifts to cranes but the last "extra quality" tickets/skills caught my eye. The list is copied below 4. Additional Should your application be successful, it is useful to have some understanding of any additional licences you have. • Confined space • Supervise asbestos removal • Dogging • Rigging • Operation of a crane • Telescopic materials handler • Dozer • Loader • Excavator • Skid steer loader (Bobcat) • Skidder • Forklift All successful winter Carpenters will need to attain a Forklift (High Risk) Licence before starting work with the AAD. You do not need this to apply, but please include it in your application if you have it. It's the third one down that caught my eye, I guess it can be a pretty lonely place to live and work but............. |

The downside for me is they don't have a Position for a 'Random Bloke'. Too much electronics and engineering, not qualified.
Otherwise I'd love to spend a season in the Antarctic with a bunch of Aussies who will all call me Davo. (PS, I'm both Kiwi and English, so I'm allowed to have some 'feelings' towards our green and gold brethren ) Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |
