Long time since I looked on buggy’s thread
Cheers Clayton house is great, I’m back home next week so will show you my part of it So Buggsy has had a “ripe” rear end since I bought her, I have been meaning to fit a new rear crossmember for ages and I have finally done it After looking at various options and vendors I opted for a DixonFabrication 6mm with recovery eyes, mainly down to personal preference and the cost wasn’t much more, the order went in and I had to wait a month or so due to lead times but I was easily able to call and check on the updates and ask any questions so a plus for customer service. Up onto the ramp with the recip-saw ready to go: Click image to enlarge First job was prep, tank etc off and what happens when I move the tank an inch?: Click image to enlarge Yep why wouldn’t this snap so a few calls and messages later resulted in nothing more than new pipes for £££ in the short time period I had so expedient repair was on, I inserted a slightly smaller rigid tube in the connecter then applied some loctite glue, luckily this is only the low pressure return, eventually I will cut the floor for future use and order the stainless ones from Nakatanenga however like most expedient repairs it will probably be on there till it fails Little bit of noise later had this, I had to retro fit some captive nuts from YRM as the new crossmember has the external tabs (when I called to ask he said all of them they produced including puma replacements come this way and I was the first to question it ) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So why did I replace it?: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge As you can see very rotten, the lifting socket/tube nearly ripped out when I used a small bar to leaver it off Whilst I had access to the chassis I thought I could run a wire wheel over the majority of it and add some Buzzweld RCP: Click image to enlarge Out with the welder: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So now she’s on: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Just a tow bar to fit (hence the electrics hanging ) 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well it’s been a long time since I’ve been on here, as some of you follow me on Instagram you will of seen the big changes I have made, so a little catch up on my life, I’m no longer in the military after 13.5 years I chose to move my career on to something different and back home, I’m now employed as a firefighter back home
So moving back to Guernsey meant that all my stuff had to move too, Including Maggie which gave the new rear crossmember on Buggsy a workout: Click image to enlarge Once I was home I had a job offer within a few weeks so once again Buggsy was pressed into service to take me 325mi north for my basic aviation fire fighting course: Click image to enlarge Now back in Guernsey and loving the new job, once the house is sorted Maggies Reston will resume. Now let’s get back into this forum as I’m long overdue looking at what shiny things I need to convince my bank account I can afford 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

That looks like Teesside airport? (The Bottom one). I can call it that again after they've sacked the ridiculous Durham Tees Valley name. Or am I wrong? |

Been a while since I have updated this
After using the rear door a few times getting some bits out I then went to put the stuff back, and would the door open? No no it would not, I tried locking/unlocking and nothing, ok my wagon has access hatches either side, now where did I put the keys for those...... ah yes hanging up in the back as I never use them ok let’s draw on some background skills and pow I have a side hatch open, strip the door completely and get the latch assembly off. Off to the bench and drill out the rivets to have a look at what’s gone wrong: Click image to enlarge Well that’s not meant to be in three parts, guess it’s time to rummage the spares bins and see what I can find..... ah success one times rear door latch assembly minus the barrel, now the barrel for the old door was not the best and didn’t survive being removed so it’s into the parts bin again for the security dead lock I had been meaning to do since I bought Buggsy. Pics to follow but I now have a locking and secure door 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |
