It cracks me up when people say things like this about spacers! Rolling with laughter

The extra loading on the bearings etc as a result fitting spacers (at least spacers of a reasonable sensible thickness) is less that the effect of a passenger getting in the vehicle, it is never going to make a difference.

Really? The bearing is in the hub and the wheel sits c. 100mm outbound of this. Adding a 30mm spacer adds 30% more leverage or shear into the bearing. A passenger getting in transfers weight through the suspension, which is the other side of the bearing meaning that the load is shared along the length of the axle, Albeit to one side. The load on the bearing is increased in exactly the way it was designed as it acts via the rigid side of the swivel housing.

The loading effects of your example and a wheel spacer are incomparable.

Fitted genuine perspex light guards, got 25% discount at local stealers while ordering other parts.
The ones I purchased with the LED's were starting to cloud over and for the cost, the 4 years was well worth it (have saved the lights from stones a couple of times).
Just hope the genuine ones work as well and last longer. The 'goldfish eye bulge' is also gone...

I, being a bit of a skinflint bought a couple of A4 sized pieces of perspex off eBay, cut the long bit off to make them square, rounded the corners and ran round with the router to give a rounded edge and ended up with the same type of thing for a tenner Wink

Replaced the VCV in the Puma today...
Symptoms were – sometimes stalling at idle, poor fuel consumption, bit more noisier/rougher/sluggish than usual, and occasional loss of power.
I'd heard it was a PITA job due to access but as is usual, someone has been there before and I spotted some good advice on this forum. Bow down
Unplugging the brake vacuum pipe and unclipping the wiring harness really helped.
Some leftover IKEA flatpack furniture Allen keys also came in handy for the bolts.

Fitted bilstein dampers and alive springs to the front. Was planning on doing all 4 but the fronts were a nightmare and the light beat me! Couldn’t get the near side damper out without removing coolant hoses and really didn’t want to go down that route. Had to cut the top nuts off both the old ones.

Rear should be a piece of cake in comparison, but won’t get to that until next weekend. Makes for an amusing driving experience! Soft as you like on the front and then a kick up the arse from the hd springs on the rear!

Fitted my Hula girl onto the cramped dash of the Puma hopefully she won't fly out of the window on a hot day.

Not only has she kept me company for numerous years in my 300tdi she also
serves as a low tech multi function gadget,
depending on how vigorously she hula's tells me how rough the terrain is or wether I've lost a wheel
when the water reaches her feet I know I've waded too deep
and if her grass skirt goes over her head I know I've rolled.
Thumbs Up

unfortunately I can remember Hawaii Five O Big Cry
