I've got a nasty stone chip in mine and not sure if it's damaged the heating element. I assume insurance companies don't normally take the "we don't cover heated screens, sir" stance???

It could possibly be plugged and filled, but if the element is damaged, may as well just get a new one fitted?

mmm I can help you there...I ran a windscreen business for ten years and a bike shop for the last 8 Wink

They don't normally repair heated screens, it will need a replacement, as long as you're fully comp, pay the excess and they will replace it...you've heard the ad on the radio I'm sure !!!

National windscreens did the job. They did not seal the screen but suggested talking to the dealer about it when in for service. The reason the fitter said they did not like to seal the screen in is that it is supposed to come out easily in an accident/emergency ???

Craig

Heated screens are covered on my policy provided it is standard on the vehicle. Cost of the screen if you have to purchase yourself is £295 inc vat.

I delivered and entered three surplus sets of driving harness (horse) to the annual heavy horse association auction. Looked at the rest of stuff, had a cup of coffee and chat and then came home again. Steve.

I know that you are both totally right in your comments Thumbs Up

I didn't push the issue for a very good reason, the paintwork around the windscreen is bubbling and I am looking to get it resprayed/replaced when it goes in for service later this month. I didn't want to give the dealer any excuse for not doing the work - it was the windscreen fitters that caused the problem etc etc.

As the screen will be coming out again to do the work I will insist the dealer seals it properly when putting it back in - I can live in hope Rolling with laughter

Visiting a friend in Harrogate gave me the perfect chance to have a decent run out in Big Black for the first time in what seems like forever, after a couple of weeks of working locally, and a week where I wasn't allowed to drive due to being on antibiotics. Eurgh.

Despite the radio randomly deciding it wants to 'SEEK PI' for no reason and the gearbox throwing a strop every now and again all was good!

Very nearly done 35k now too Sad Only seems like yesterday when I picked it up with 19 miles on the clock, in fact, that was very nearly two years ago now! Time flies!

Booked it in for some work , well it has done 1000 miles now about time something was fixed lol

1) Dealer fit front lamp guards fitted in slighly different places which also caused me to look the the front of the car which looks very wonky (technical term) workshop guy thought it was the wings

2) Spongy feel to paint in rain gutter at the end and the flaking paint in the middle (must have sprayed it on a hill)

3) Door seal keeps dropping down and trying to hang the unwary passenger as they get in/out

4) Front Lamp guards got rusty marks on the welds after 2 months (genuine LR cost a bomb dealer fitted ones too)

5) Oil dropping form the silver bit behind the engine (another technical term) not alot but enough , could this be that recall I saw mentioned on here ?

6) Gearbox getting notchie , occasional cluck after clutch released
