My docs are "VIN 760595 on" but that suggests it's after yours?

My VIN is 771xxx suggesting that the immobilizer controls the starter relay coil. But again, to my knowledge, my vehicle is not equipped with an immobilizer, unless it is disabled, as I do not have a key fob.
Vehicle is a LHD is that makes a difference. |

The box is fitted anyway as it controls stuff like the interior lights from the door switches.
Plus even with no fobs I'm almost certain the immobiliser is still linked to the ECU and carries out an immobilisation function. ![]() ![]() |

Martin / Dorset - many thanks for the help and clarifications!
I'm assuming the immobilizer is the dreaded Lucas 10AS that I have read so much about on this very forum. Great. ![]() So the two questions are now: 1. How do I check if the issue is indeed the immobilizer? Presumably see if it is energizing the starter relay coil (pins 85-86)... 2. How do I reset / fix this? Does it have a separate fuse? |

Do the interior lights come on OK when you open the door(s)?
Have you got the new or old interior lights fitted? ![]() ![]() |

Martin - yup, once I changed the fuse that had blown (F30 10A) - which you and Doset helpfully pointed me to - interior lights functioning normally on both ON/DOOR.
New lights are fitted (front had been swapped previously, this time added the rear). |

Just found this with regards to the Lucas 10AS....!
![]() 1. Electronic Engine Immobiliser (Used on MFI-T16 and 300TDi with EDC engines) This system is controlled by the Engine Management ECU and the Alarm ECU. When the vehicle is immobilised, the alarm ECU sends a signal to the EMS ECU which prevents starting, and until it receives a de-immobilise signal it will not start. 2. Remote Smart Spider (Used on MFI-T16 and 300TDi without EDC engines) This system is controlled by the alarm ECU and the Engine immobilisation ECU (Spider). The alarm ECU sends a signal to the spider ECU to disable vehicle start, which then interrupts the starter circuit, fuel pump circuit and ignition coil (If fitted) or the fuel pump shut off solenoid in the case of the 300TDi engine (without EGR). NOTE : The vehicle can only be started using the Plip key or the EKA code. |

start by making shore you have + DC supply to you ignition switch and down to the starter relay coil with the switch start position also make shore you haven't blow more fuse |

Right - finally had some time to look at this:
1. Checked all fuses in main and secondary boxes. ALL OK 2. Checked starter relay. I am getting power across pins 85 and 86 (coil side). However I am only getting 7V, NOT 12V ... Not sure if this is normal?! ![]() Dorset - am I correct in assuming that if I am getting power at the starter relay, I don't need to check for power at the ignition? |

Right Checked starter relay again but thing time 86 (coil side) to body work ground, are you getting 12v ![]() if you still get 7v check the battery voltage Poz to neg , then check poz to body work ground are you getting 12v ? 7 volts isn't normal. What's your battery voltage?
