Well,
Winter ends and the summer is comming and with that the infamous temperature issue... After change all the inexpensive things (the thermostat, put the Nakatenga's fan extension, etc) without solve the problem completely, I decide to buy a new uprated radiator from Allisport to solve the temperature problem definitely (I hope). So the order is on the way (Christmass present for the Defender) ad should be installed during the 1st week of January to be tested during our summer (Jan-Feb). If this doesnt solve the problem I will run absolutely out of ideas. I will keep you informed Cheers to all Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

Ethylene-Glycol based coolant, local made compatible with TL 774F 50% dilution. According to the manual should be Texaco XLC (also ethylene glycol) which is also compatible with the TL 774F in 50% dilution Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge Last edited by Eduardo on 3rd Dec 2018 10:47pm. Stupid question, have you changed the viscous hub?. No offense but you guys have no idea about hot weather, both our Defenders have worked in 50 degree Celsius heat for weeks on end, but the fan MUST work.

Viscous was replaced around 2-3 years ago. BTW the problems occurs only with heavy load (as a family of 6 with all the gears), at high temperatures (over 30°C), high speed (120 kph) in mild but long slopes (that are common here in Chile and probably not in Australia). Otherwise temperature is not an issue. Cheers! Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

Do you have a cat fitted, that would be the first thing to remove.
I have had the same problem as you and have put it down to exhaust temp under load. Fit a pyrometer and keep an eye on it. I can drive mine and make it boil or watch the temp on the real time analogue gauge I have fitted and back off when temps rise. Mark |

Eduardo, my advise, cut some gills in the front guards like the Range Rover, what you want is more airflow through the rad, owners have done it here and it makes a huge difference. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=i&sou...2908023534 |

Do you have (even slight!) loss of coolant? Do you observe the OBD temperature of the cylinder head? |

Eduardo, I had exactly the same problem as you. Hills, high air temp, revs. But the clue was hills (and suggestions from the forum members) that my coolant was low. Is yours at the right level? No blockages or air bubbles? It sounds so similar. I topped mine up and now keep a regular eye on the level, and never had the problem occur again. Also gave the MAF a clean at the same time, but coolant was the key, it was low. Add the hills and it just seemed to accentuate the 'level' whereas flat roads seemed to be ok. It was obviously on the threshold for the ECU to turn on the limo mode. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I cannot take out the catalizer (MOT restrictions in the city) I have also a temp readed connected to the ODB So I can low the gear when the temp goes up to 105°C but is quite anoying in special in the long trips.
