Instrument Binnacle
I'm in the process of adding a permanently live power socket to the dash and thought I would take the opportunity to hard wire the phone charger and sat nav power leads behind the dash.

My Tom Tom sits between the top of the instrument binnacle and the circular vent so I want to feed the power cable up to it. To do this I need to take the top off the binnacle, I've removed the two screws that are in the top of the dash but this doesn't seem to allow much movement, is there anything else to undo?

Hi,, With the 2 screws removed, the binnacle top panel will just pull off upward,, one, or maybe 2 plastic tags secure it,, !! California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

I fitted the power unit in behind the drivers speaker (plenty of room in here and it is easy to get a live from the fusebox or feeding the cable through to the centre console for fitting to the cig lighter or the radio, I have an alpine bluetooth unit and the tomtom usb power converter box in to the right of the speaker) and fed the cable out and up the right side of the dash. The power lead then tucks in behind the top of the dash and into the windscreen mount. There is plenty of room as I have run the cable for the scangauge along the same route.
Originally I wanted to do the same as you and go through the top, but found out that the dash doesn't sit flush again with the power lead exiting through the top as it is a tight fitting unit.

Thanks Guys. AFter fiddling about a bit today and persusing tinternet it will be a combination of the two as I've found a semi permanent mount for the tomtom and the dremel cut a nice little slot out of the edge of the plastic above the clock for my phone. Thumbs Up
