Barney - don't know about the Orbea specifically, but the current generation trail bikes - particularly 29" ones - are pretty awesome, and can do it all. For mortals, who are not racing XC or doing gnarly / technical descents, they are pretty much a one quiver bike.

I'm looking at the new Canyon Neuron or possibly the YT Jeffsey to replace my Capra, which was "too much" of a bike for the kind of riding I do.

To be honest, I don't think there are any "bad" bike from the well known manufacturers these days. Its a more a question of subtle differences in the bikes, and how they fit and match your riding style. I tried many this summer, and honestly would have been very happy with about 80% of them...

Cheers for that redline that’s good to know, you’re Capra looks to be a lovely bike, good luck with the replacement Thumbs Up cheers Paul

It was time to upgrade the Kona... I went for another local aluminum Vancouver bike.

Knolly Warden, It's an absolute wonder to ride. Very capable on downhill, rough North Shore terrain, yet light and nimble enough to climb exceptionally well.

I never fail to be amazed by the mark-up on goods. Always better to buy last year's stuff. Full Shimano Ultegra di2, 50% off yet no discernable difference to 2019's groupo Shocked Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Huge discounts are offered from the brands if they're stuck with a load of bikes at the end of the year, they charge the shops less and the shops reduce the price to the public.

People 'hang on' waiting for their fave bike to be reduced and complain when at the end of the year they're sold out, without a chance of getting it at discounted prices. Sometimes brands get it right and forecast the correct amount of stock.
Heck, we have some 2019 models sold out already Shocked

Here's a question for you, how much percentage do you think shops make on bikes?

Hi, we were going to hold out until January but we were offered the 2 bikes we wanted and at a very good price and bought them straight away as it was a run out Model,we knew we only had a short window of time before they were gone, thankfully we both had the money in place ready to purchase them. Thumbs Up cheers Paul
Re percentages I wouldn’t have a clue but I guess it’s not huge, but if it’s a good dealer to buy from they can reap the sales as word of mouth in my opinion is worth more than any advertisement Thumbs Up cheers Paul

Loved the Epic, but it was way too much bike for the riding I was doing, so it got sold... Done SITS and SS Eurpoeans in the past, but Censored knees have put paid to that.

I built this a couple of years ago... with a proper leightweight SS crank set and seat it came in at just over 4lbs Mr. Green

Hi Vera,

I know this is an old thread but just read the '4 Ibs' bit....surely that isn't for the whole bike?
Before I read this I was thinking my bike was light at circa 8kg and I simply can't see how a bike could possibly weigh 1/4 of that?
It's clearly a very light bike but surely not 4 Ibs ?

Don't think I have any pics of the other bikes lol

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

hey guys. anyone able to offer some advice on the above bike. I'm looking to sell it and wonder what would be a realistic price. It's literally like new as I've only used it (gently) a maybe a dozen times.

its a flash carbon 1. 26" carbon frame, forks, crank arms, seat post, handle bars. xtr rear derailer, xt front, xx0 brakes.

RRP was circa £4.5k
