May seem a silly question but will my 110 CSW have a rear recovery point as standard? Not coming with a tow pack and I am thinking that I may need to order a swivel eye or similar for the rear. Andy

Seen some decent looking recovery eyes at Scorpion racing that bolt into the existing holes on the rear crossmember. About £30 though + P&P which looks steep. Andy

Cheers but I don't like Jate rings on the rear, they are too far under the body to be useful. Andy |

As someone who would rather not give my cash to Scorpion I'd recommend Famous Four for recovery points as per link below; http://www.famousfour.co.uk/foursport/shackle.php//url I also saw an excellent swivel recovery point at Billing - now if only I can remember who sold it?? |

Scorpion one arrived today, brilliant item, very well made and comes with bolts to fit the pre-threaded inserts in the crossmember. Took about 2 minutes to fit and looks well up to the job. I also bought some stronger bumper corners from them too to protect the rear 1/4 panels. Will post pics once fitted. Andy

Rear recovery fitted to the Red Dwarf. The recovery point is removable and an adjustable ball tow hitch can be mounted in its place. Purchased from this place ask for Tom

I've been looking at one of these from where you suggest. (I have some other items from them which are excellent!!)
It looks like a great solution instead of the ground anchor created by the adjustabe tow hitch from LR. My only concern is the tow hitch is no EU compliant (or whatever they call it). Is it safe? Does it have any impact on insurance? David Disovery 3 TDV6 SE Defender 90 XS 2.4 Defender 110 S D250 (MY22) |

Don't know I got it for the rear recovery and it came with the towing kit. I'm sure Tom will answer your questions

This is the one I have, less substantial than AndrewS 's but for what I need it will do the job.

Continuing on this subject - my intention was to use a tow bar as a recovery point and I have a Landrover genuine adjustable tow bar ready to bolt on.
As pointed out it does hang down and act as a bit of a plough but then I don't intend too much more than laning in the 110, no winch challenge stuff and it has the benefit of being easily adjustable for different height draw bars. Looking at the recovery point straight on to the crossmember this is a neat solution but is the crossmember up to recovery without any brackets back to the chassis? Reason I ask is that the pre-tapped holes in the crossmember will accept a NATO hitch and I happen to have one sitting in the garage which could bolt straight on. What do you reckon? |

Land Rover say that tow points are not recovery points. Personally I would not be happy recovering a vehicle thats got its recovery point fixed to the rear cross member only. They do bend.
Just My Opinion. |
