I checked the relays. They certainly weren’t in as tight as some descriptions on here have suggested they should be and pulled off easily but didn’t seem like they were lose either.
I took them out and squeezed up the female connectors and slightly twisted the spades on the relays. The are definitely tighter now. I will have to keep trying it and report back. It’s starting fine at the moment but that’s the problem with trying to solve an intermittent problem. I will do some research on what earth connections to check and where they are ( any tips appreciated) and will have a go at that when I get some time in the daylight Thanks for the help so far. I really appreciate it. Will update soon |

Could be an intermittent starter issue, you do mention it seems to be getting worse.
Take the starter off and connect a boost pack to it, push some wood against the dog, if it doesn't push you off everything, this could be your issue. |

Hi,
Thanks. I will get the starter out and check the earth connections as soon as I get some daylight time with it. I dont know about fault codes. I will have to get someone with a reader to have a look for me. I will report back. Thanks for the help and patience. |

I wouldn’t mess with the connections as you may upset the intermittent side of it then you might never find it. It will make it harder to find for an electrician.

Hi, No scangauge connected.
Since tweaking up the connectors on the relays the only other thing i have done is changed the battery in the fob just in case that was weak. I am trying to change / try one thing at a time otherwise I am not going to know what has worked Took my kid out who is learning to drive in it yesterday and must have starte stopped with engine on and off about 20 times and no problem. Started again tonight straight away. Not out of the woods yer though, its gone this many start ups before without playing up. I will report back when I have more news. |

It is entirely possible that tightening the relays under the seat has fixed the problem. It will take months for you to gain the confidence though.
