Fitted the Optimill rear hinge set, I have long been a fan of Optimill products due to the high quality of their products but these have “upped” the bar again for me. Very impressed and have made the backdoor easier to close even with the gas strut I have fitted.

What makes them an even nicer accessory to my Defender was they only cost me £80.00 brand new from a great guy on eBay Thumbs Up but to be honest having fitted them even at the full price of £240.00 I would still be very impressed with them.

Those hinges look great! Is that a lock for the spare wheel you have in the middle? 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

Used Michelin door seal and rubber protection spray to treat all door seals, as well as the A-bar, mirror covers, door handles, bumper end caps, wiper spindle caps, window washers, etc. Surely brightens everything up again to a nice black color.
Next thing is to dig out the small paint brush again to ACF-50 treat the foam seal separating upper and lower part of the truck body, as well as the inside of all visible pop rivets.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Your brother does not have many belongs then! However, when you think about it a comfy chair a few tools and a chainsaw is all you need Smile

Nice job on the rear end

Fitted a pair of front mud flaps to my petrol Defender.

Hopefully these will keep road muck off the folding side-steps, so they will fold without grinding paste in the hinges.

After a sudden loss of power and my EGT gauge going very high with anything more than half throttle I thought my turbo was done for. I first suspected that the actuator was seized as it is a VGT turbo. After a bit of investigating I found a lovely split right along the bottom edge of my Intercooler.

So I went shopping for a new Intercooler. The one I had was an updated one from Allisport, so I thought I would order another the same. Looking on their website they seemed to be out of stock. So I went looking for alternatives.

I found an unbranded one on eBay for £119 and think it is probably made in China. Well I needed one ASAP and I thought for 1/3 the price of Allisport it was worth a gamble. Ordered it yesterday and it turned up today. Looks good and side by side to the one I have just taken out it looks more or less spot on.

Well I fitted it this evening and all went in and fits correctly. Given it a test run and all seems great. Long term will be the true test, but considering my supposedly superior Allisport one cracked I don’t see that this can be any worse.

Allisport have a big history of cracking intercoolers which has supposed to have been sorted but I still see it popping up regularly. Some people on here don’t seem to like it being mentioned because theirs is fine......... for the moment! Ray

I didn’t realise it was a known issue! Even better I went elsewhere then. Even if this one cracks I can have three of these for one Allisport.

ill be bearing that in mind if I come to 'upgrade' mine..

Sometimes I find I loose power on long drives when everything is 'hot', the thermometer will only be half way, but I do notice the boost from the turbo is lacking... Regards
