Excellent progress. A toffee wheel in a drill will get that adhesive off.
I got one to remove some old sikaflex and it made light work of it. Instagram: L90andy My 1984 Ninety: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56071.html - SOLD! My 2015 Defender: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39625.html - SOLD! |

Will that work? the remover told me it’s very hard to remove with a wheel... but, could be worth a try

Might also be worth a bit of WD40 and a bit of elbow grease... I've removed all the decal adhesive using that approach... anything that was left over had a bit of G3 scratch remover paste dabbed on.
A toffee wheel will make the job a lot easier and quicker if you've got one to hand but I've used the above approach loads of time with no detriment to the original surface. |

I have used "sticky stuff remover" quite successfully on residues, although not on the area you have left.
Available from Amazon and B&Q. Might be worth a try. |

This silicon bonding is mean stuff.. I have a toffee wheel, no harm to try it... heard WD40 has a way of softening up silicon, but this stuff VGS use is aircraft grade bonding, apparently.

I did, they wouldn’t say what they used, the guy who removed them, windscreen professional, said it was “industrial strength”

Nice one. Looking better already.
Autoglym tar remover may get the worst of it off. |

The problem with removing the adhesive if it’s been applied correctly is that a primer should have been applied to the paint first, so you may end up having to paint the panels if the primer bonded properly to the paint. Ray

Yep, VGS installed them, before I got it. It’s been primed and it has etched into the paint in places, as it’s supposed to. They were never supposed to be removed, as VGS told me when I asked them. So, some of the bonding has gone, but, think it’s got to go in and get sorted.
![]() Thanks for all the suggestions... Update on progress at weekend when the rears come off |
