Fitting fuel pickup pipe for webasto in fuel neck - TD5
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBERSPACHER-LAN...1134055406

I have one of the pipes in the link above, has anyone else fit one of these to their defender?

I am just about to do it and was hoping to splice into the fuel neck in situ but as I can't feed into the tank I can't be too accurate with where I make the cut, issue I have is the 110 is on the ramp immobilised and I have nearly a full tank of fuel, got the perfect chance to do it but would be better if tank was empty.

Any advice or measurements as to where it has been tee'd in?

Thanks

yes I have fitted one, the bit you have fits in the rubber pipe from the filler neck, at the bottom of the rubber pipe.
remove the rubber pipe between the filler neck & the tank inlet, cut the rubber pipe allowing enough at the bottom to secure with jubilee clips on the tank neck & onto the new sleeve, I had to shorten the rubber by approximately 15mm to allow space for the pre heater take off pipe, the old jubilee clips were cut off as siezed so you may find the same, also you need more to attach the rubber hose back to the filler neck and the other end of the new sleeve, the outlet to the pre heater sits at 3 o'clock so the pick up pipe sits in the tank properly.

a bit hazy, but shows how it sits in the rubber hose with the take off to three right of the filler tube

on mine i used the fitting on top of the fuel pump .cut end off feed pipe in and seal, been good for years and it sits insides the filter side of things.

the last one i did was thru the pipe similar to the pictures . didn't run the heater if the car was less than 30% full of fuel.

Likewise, I have gone in through top of sender on mine with the dedicated webasto pickup. Works when tank is almost empty! Cheers
