Code U0428 Invalid data received from steering angle sensor!
Good Evening Gents, has anybody got any suggestions (constructive please) for the above.

Steering Wheel was swapped on my 2014 Defender virtually from new.

Since then you have to tug the steering wheel a quarter turn right which brings on the traction control light before driving off.

If you don’t it drives like the diffs are locked.

Looking at the ECU the above fault is always showing.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Does yours have the DSC button? Models with that feature had a slightly different steering wheel as part of the system so your aftermarket(?) wheel probably isn't compatible. Darren

Cheers LandRover Anorak, yes mine does have the DSC button!

I must admit none of the aftermarket suppliers mentioned this when purchasing the Moro steering wheel?

Morning Martin, the indicator cancelling works but it is not 100%.

Seems a bit biased to the right!

That'll be it then. The angle sensor is telling the DSC system the car is steering right, however it knows from the wheel sensors and yaw sensor that it isn't.

Have you got the original wheel?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Evening Martin, thanks for the info. Unfortunately the original steering wheel went a long time ago. What your suggestion? Is it time to take it to the garage?

Just needs the steering angle sensor calibration done - any good independent will have suitable kit to do this. IRB

I was toying with the idea of fitting a Moto Lita and Optimil quick release hub to my Defender 2015MY which is fitted with DSC. Has anyone with a 2015MY fitted the above and more to the point will the DSC still work? (apologies for tagging onto your thread WYF). Defender 90XS SW
