I think, what we are seeing here, is a double cab pick up. Look at the upper “body” behind the second row doors. Looks an awful lot like a canopy to me.

Someone has already mocked one up.

Well i think that looks quite encouraging really.

Clearly the "signature" areas of the design are those covered by the boxy add-on panels. So my guess is the bonnet tapers towards the grill, exposing relatively flat topped wings (more Defender), the roof climbs steeply from the windscreen up to above the b-pillar (even more Defender) and the panel above the door handles steps inwards below the side windows (very Defender). A relatively upright windscreen, if somewhat curved, and a very upright and flat rear door. Good to see it side hinged.
However the wheel (or more significantly tyre) diameter looks rather smaller than a current Defender or the DC100, and the shape of the wheelarch flares looks a little too VW (read generic) for my liking.
Never the less......
Lets give them the benefit of the doubt, and be pleased to see a sign the end (beginning) is near.

As a Double Cab, it already has a quite unique and chunky appearance!

So glad JLR are bringing back the D3, for me the best vehicle they've made. Why we have to wait years for it is beyond me unless they hope we'll have forgotten about the original by 2020 or 2024 or whenever.
