I will throw my hat in the ring... It could easily be that there is too much paint on the shock thread. Binding the nut up. Had huge problems with a set of Koni heavy tracks because of this.
All it might need is un-doing a wire brushing and you are good to go again. |

oil filter strap works well to hold the shock whilst you half inch that hut home.

I’d bet your shock is metric and the nut imperial or vise versa Two different threads on different shock brands!
