Managed to find some time this morning to fit the quarter lights and get it all aligned and bolted in place. Luckily I still had the original fixings in a bag labelled 'from the dash'. Still need to fit the door seals, but I'm very pleased so far...

Thanks. It is a strange phenomenon that the cab has made it look like it has more original, patinated bodywork than newly repaired. Overall it suddenly appears much less restored than it did.
Heaven help all the people who walk past to/from the beach and keep asking me when I'll finish it. It looks like it could now be 'found' in a hedge somewhere... |

That looks a proper Land-Rover. I do like a SWB Series 2/2A with truck cab and three quarter tilt.

Finally finished the refurbishment and fitment of the cab. The Woolies window channel is a triumph - it fits perfectly inside the existing metal channel and the windows are nice and tight but not too tight so that they can still be opened. Finished the job off by fitting genuine seals round the tops of the doors and even putting a little bolt in the gutters.

Has the paintwork been mechanically polished? Looks very shiny.

Yes, I polished all the original paint with a DA Polisher to restore the colour and provide a better match with the new paint.
It's looking a little too shiny in some of the photos because I occasionally wipe it over with ACF-50 (light oil) to protect the bare birmabright and steel from corrosion. |
