Seeing this at the weekend makes me really want a galv Brownchurch classic roof rack. Due to size would need to be quite local to East Anglia. I'll be keeping a quiet look out. The more character the better, I don't mind a few dents or mods so long as solid.

To add to this, I think it needs to be the HD (twin leg) type, as shown above and definitely galv not black and with rear ladder. James

Hi Phil, thanks for the comments. I can help a little towards the cost of a Cargo Bear, but it won't get you very far
Yours is the rack I want! Have you consider buying direct from Brownchurch?
I bought the Brownchurch LR10/95/110 (http://www.brownchurch.co.uk/products/roof-racks/defender/) when I got my 110 4 years ago, through the local garage. Brand new, including the ladder and shipping from Brownchurch, it was about £400. As Phil says they do add height so be careful finding a carpark. I've covered the base in 50mmx50mmx3mm wire mesh which makes standing on it a lot safer and more options for strapping things down. |

Thanks Paddie, I have spoken with Brownchurch and got a current price but as it's purely a cosmetic thing for me I can't really justify the £670. It would also look far too new and shiny for my old girl. James

It’s that style, galvanised box construction, think it’s even got a rear ladder, I’m back at my workshop Monday and I’ll sort the photos

Hi James
Have you thought of going to the Newbury Sort out on Sunday? There is usually a number of roof racks for sale which might work for you. Its a lottery of course, you have to haggle and there is every chance you will come home with all sorts of other Land Rover tat you did not even know you wanted! 2010 XS USW 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |

Richard, good idea but I think I may be sorted.
Phantom, If you were not a ferry away I might be tempted, that's a great price. Badger, I'd seen that on eBay and again great price and if it were not painted I'd been tempted. I guess the paint could be stripped but I'd worry about damaging the galv. Thanks all. That one on Gumtree is an absolute steal. I wouldn't worry about damaging the galv by stripping the paint. Darren

I'm tempted at that price too as i was looking for a full length, ie over the bonnet too. I doubt you'd damage the glav getting the paint off, just abit of a messy job |
