how does a bad VCV look like

Since I wasted a lot of time trying to find out how to diagnose a bad VCV here it is

Take it out.
Take it apart.
Look at the piston.

This is the bad one.

I think you must have had a lot of water or contamination in your diesel to get it that bad. 😬

Nope, just our normal diesel from our wondrous state refinery. Panama is too far from where I live, but you feel the difference straight away. Nicaragua has the same 'quality' Big Cry we get here
Sulphur, c..p, moisture, particles... Has already cost me two pump overhauls on my 300tdi and 200tdi Rangie Crying or Very sad Fixing Land Rovers in rural Guanacaste
