I'm happy to announce these officially and make them available! LR Def Puma Dash Gauges Controller https://www.fnltd.co.uk/shop/puma-gauges-c...r-p87.html Nothing like a snappy title, and that's nothing like one! This controller converts the hard-wired signals present on pre-Puma Defenders into the CAN bus messages and control signals needed to correctly and fully operate the Puma (Tdci) Defender’s gauge cluster – whether installed as part of an entire Puma dashboard or a custom build with just the gauges. As an add-on to the controller are two types of adapter looms, depending on the currently installed gauges. The adapter loom allows the installation of all the wiring for the gauges to be plug-and-play for a Td5, and reduces the wiring needed for earlier vehicles to an absolute minimum. For hard-wiring, building your own loom or if you have a custom loom you can buy a connector pack or individual connectors as you need. Supported by the controller now are the following engines/ECUs: Td5, Motronic V8, 14CUX V8, GEMS V8, 300 Tdi, 200 Tdi. Any engine can be accomodated and we have a full database of LR temperature sensors. If you have an engine or installation that is currently unsupported we do have the ability to customise a controller for you so please contact us. Controller: £285 inc VAT (£237.50+VAT) Td5 Plug-and-Play Loom or non-Td5 adapter Loom: £80 inc VAT (£66.67+VAT) https://www.fnltd.co.uk/shop/puma-gauges-controller-p87.html Start Up Video Drive Video 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW Last edited by Martin on 26th Nov 2018 9:13am. Great job Martin
few Q's: Will you be able to use the kit with a speedo healer for use with non-standard ratio diffs? Also do you have a list of warning lights that are in the tdci unit? Are they all the same as td5? Can you supply the controller and the Tdci dash gauges?? |

Dave I'll send you the link once it's online
Matt: no issue to use a speedo healer (I assume you are doing this before the Td5 speedo?) - it's only where you have it wired in which might affect the ability to use the plug-and-play loom. I was not planning on supplying the Puma gauges but if you are having trouble sourcing a set then I'm sure I can help. Martin 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I have looked for a set of puma clocks and not much comes up at a sensible price point, especially when compared to the discovery 3 or freelander unit.
If you could help sourcing that would be cool. Matt |

They are definitely rarer than and so command a premium over the D3/Fl2 gauges - which can't be used for this conversion. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi all,
Online shop link finally live. Although I thought I had the various options down to a minimum it's still been a mission to get it all set up on the shop! https://www.fnltd.co.uk/shop/puma-gauges-c...r-p87.html Any questions just ask 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

If you need a different loom or adapter than what is currently on offer do let me know. I've made some assumptions as to what people might need but obviously every installation will be different 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Absolutely delighted to say that the first batch of controllers have gone out to their new owners today
Very proud to be supporting UK manufacturing - the controller board has been made in the UK and we assemble the controllers up and make all the looms ourselves in Oxfordshire Martin 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW Last edited by Martin on 23rd Aug 2018 5:42pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Just out of interest, does this work with clusters from 2.2, 2.4 or both?
My understanding was that the CAN messages are significantly different between 2.2 & 2.4. |

Hi, sorry I totally missed this question over the BH weekend.
The controller supports gauges from both 2.4 and 2.2 Defenders 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Bump as it's been a while since I've mentioned these
Now supporting a wider range of engines including Rover V8s with either carbs or 14CUX/GEMS/Motronic engine management. I've also done a calibration sweep on pretty much every known LR coolant temperature sensor so if you know the sensor fitted the controller can read it If you're thinking of a Puma dash installation or an engine swap into your Puma then give me a shout 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

This is amazing work!
I currently own a 90 with a junky 19J, will be swapping to a 200tdi and a Puma body. Seems like you have a solution for the cluster. Will be ordering shortly. |
