Due to the general lack of changes to the vehicle - putting a private number plate on it results in Joe Public not being able to tell if its a 2016 model, or a 1996 model
Not that that was the primary reason I got a private plate (it was a gift when they were still sensibly priced when they launched the DVLA scheme). 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |

Guernsey doesnโt do private plates, could have a special number but they can cost more than the car
On a plus note any age car can have silver numbers on black background 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

I've got 3 vehicles, my 90 with a nickname related "private" plate on that I've had for about 20 years now and has been on more cars than I care to remember, I have a FL2 which came to me with a private plate on, (M3 ***, nice for a BMW owner ) and a 1971 Rover P5B with its original age-related (J) plate which will definitely be staying.

Funny you mention that last sentence Mash.
On the TV the other day on a police thing they pulled a BMW for having those classic type plates which were fitted to about a 2004 age BMW. I can't remember the outcome tough on it.

Can't imagine it will be 70/30.
I'll try to say this so as not to offend my Def2 brethren but private plates are...err..Marmite. |

Agree. I think the term "vanity plates" is more appropriate! |

Private plate, personalised plate whichever suits.
I know they aren't everyone's fortรฉ but I was just curious to numbers of members on here really. Nothing wrong with removing the age identifier in my book.

don't care for having my name / initials on the number plate (just my personal choice). I prefer a plate that compliments the car ie
M3YEL - yellow bmw m3 P6COS - escort cosworth P6PUG - 306 Peugeot R300YEL - yellow Caterham R300 Defender has R500YEL - guess where that's destined one day (I hope) |
